This message is to Kimberley Minnick, Burnside's daughter. D Troop 3/5 Cav. Jan 71 to Dec 71. I was part of 5 man Inf. hunter/killer teams which flew with two Cobras and a Scout ship. Give me a little bit more information on what kind of ship your father flew and I can probably answer some of your questions.

Shot down Feb. 11, 1971 at the Rock Pile. Inserted at the Cabbage Patch. Helicopter crash landed after we exited the helicopter. May or June shot down at the end of Khe Sahn air strip across from the Rag Mop. Inserted on contact mission with enemy along QL 9 at Schoolhouse. SGT Zamora. Ronnie Ellington. Frank Fee. I remember being on mission in the Cabbage Patch. I think Burnside was the scout shot down.

I just recivied a phone call from WO Frank Angotti who was shot down 20 Jan.72 with Cpt. Allen and there crew west of KahShan. Frank is the first crewman from that flight whom I've talked with from that horable day. Today is the 40th annaversity of that day. It was so wonderfull to talk to him, my spirts were a little low lately, but talking with him was such a charge... I'll try to look in more often and keep in touch with you guys from the 3/5 Cav Hopefully this is a big Wake up Call for me to write my story...I tryed to start writeing 3 or 4 yrs. ago and the PTSD drove me into the ground , kinda of. Love and Blessings to you all Bob Weiland D 3/5 Air Cav.

Though I served during peace time, I just wanted to mention that I am very proud to have served in a unit with such a great heritage and fellow troopers who were among the bravest this world will ever know. " First to Fight " -- "Loyalty and Courage"
